Year 8 Trip to France
Pupils in Year 8 travelled to France arriving in Calais on Tuesday 6th Sept for 3 nights. Pupils were joined by the Year 8 Staff for an exciting week of team building and shared experiences.
The tour began with a trip to the “Nausicaa Aquarium” where pupils saw a host of beautiful sea creatures including penguins, sea lions, jelly fish and majestic manta rays!
The next day, pupils travelled to the Thiepval War Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, where pupils observed a 2-minute silence in memory of the 72,000 missing servicemen. The group were then able to see examples of trenches and living conditions during the war, vividly bringing this topic to life.
The trip was rounded up with some very exciting “tree climbing” adventures and activities, followed by a trip to the local market (where pupils were able to practice those all important language skills!). Pupils also enjoyed some wonderful French cuisine and had the opportunity to try many new dishes and local specialities.
A wonderful time was had by all and all the pupils unanimously agreed, it was a great way to kick off Year 8!
