Last week Year 8 set off on an exciting trip to the Opal Coast in France. With a very early start, pupils travelled across the Channel to begin their adventure.
The first stop was Nausicaá, one of Europe’s largest aquariums, where pupils were amazed by the spectacular marine life on display. The trip also included a powerful visit to Ypres in Belgium, exploring the In Flanders Fields Museum and learning about the horrors of the Salient during the First World War.
Lighter moments came too: a definite highlight was a visit to a Belgian chocolate shop, which proved popular! Pupils also enjoyed being sent on a “market mission” to buy their own ingredients for creating the perfect French lunch. Some pupils even had the chance to make their own bread, while others tried their hand at circus skills or enjoyed a game of air basketball.
It was a wonderful trip that blended history, culture, and fun – an experience that Year 8 will remember for a long time.
