On Thursday 11th June, Year 8 students proudly celebrated the completion of their English project, Journey Across the World. This exciting unit marked the culmination of their studies this year, bringing together a wide range of skills developed across the English curriculum.
Throughout the project, pupils produced an impressive portfolio of work, including newspaper articles, poetry, formal letters of complaint, vivid descriptive writing, magazine features, travel guides and diary entries. Each piece showcased not only their technical writing ability but also their creativity and individuality.
Inspired by the popular TV programme Race Across the World, students spent several weeks planning their own ambitious global journeys. Their thoughtfully designed itineraries included a variety of transport methods, accommodation choices and visits to six different countries. The final outcome was a unique and imaginative scrapbook, combining engaging writing with creative presentation to document their travels.
The project provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate resilience, independence and attention to detail, and the standard of work produced was exceptional. Students were recognised not only for their writing but also for their creativity, effort and commitment.
Congratulations to Imogen R, who was awarded overall winner. Sophie C and Arthur W achieved joint second place, while Beatrice R and Curtis M shared third place.
Well done to all of Year 8 for their enthusiasm and outstanding achievements in this memorable project.
