Last Wednesday we had a full Girls’ Dorm in the Boarding House with Year 6 girls coming in for a special taster of boarding at King’s. The House staff were also joined by Miss Thompson, who kindly took the girls out on a town trip, a staple of Wednesday evening boarding. After this, the girls enjoyed supper with the boarders, prep and “Last Boarder Standing” before retiring for the night to their dorm for bedtime. Everyone had a wonderful time!
The boarding experience at King’s offers support in developing a child’s sense of ownership of their own learning and life experience. Of course, there must be scaffolding: care, kindness, trust, challenge, support and understanding. Staff are always around to share the joys and occasional struggles of life – or just for a chat at the end of the day!
