In Science this week, Year 6 pupils have been learning about the fascinating topic of “Cell Biology” including how to use a microscope and how to prepare their own slides.

Working in pairs, pupils made slides from onion skins and African violet leaves. Then, using compound microscopes, pupils were able to magnify their biological specimens to see in detail the different properties of each substance.  The children learnt how within animal and plant cells, some cells are specialised and do a particular job e.g. root hair cells in plants.

Thank you for your insightful work and contributions Year 6!
