Year 4 came together on Wednesday for their annual ceilidh – and many of them had dressed in tartan to look the part! Despite having no experience, the children picked up the steps really quickly. After a warm-up which introduced the children to the main steps and the music, we learnt The Gay Gordons. There was much hilarity (and quite a few collisions) as we struggled to get used to the turn in the middle of the dance, but everyone got there in the end! We then learnt everyone’s favourite – The Dashing White Sergeant. The children picked up the steps superbly well and were able to dance the whole dance together, from beginning to end.
Unsurprisingly, after all of that exertion, the children were thirsty and hungry, so the ‘traditional’ Scottish Little Tea of Irn Bru and Tunnock’s teacakes was met (and consumed!) with considerable enthusiasm!
Thank you to everyone for making this such an exciting event.
