Year 3 Trip to Stibbington

Feb, 2026 | News

There were many sad faces as the children left the familiarity of King’s to be evacuated to the village of Stibbington. Fortunately, this wasn’t a real evacuation, but it did give the children a small idea of the uncertainty those children would have faced at the beginning of World War II. The children were all given the names of children who actually were evacuated to Stibbington from London and, on a walk around the village, were shown the houses where they actually were evacuated to. The highlight was the newly completed ‘council house’, complete with electricity and even an inside loo! In the classroom, the children filled in their identity cards, practised their ink pen writing, took part in an air raid practice and even listened to a message from Princess Elizabeth.
