Year 2 had a wonderful day stepping back in time to experience life as Victorian children.
The day began with a traditional Victorian school session, where pupils quickly discovered that their teacher was far stricter than they are used to! Lessons in prayers, history, and the ‘three Rs’ — reading, writing, and arithmetic — gave the children a real insight into the routines and expectations of Victorian classrooms.
Later, the children explored a fascinating collection of authentic Victorian artefacts, carefully sketching their observations and discussing how these objects were used in daily life. In the afternoon, they crafted classic Victorian toys such as cork boats and peg dolls, taking great pride in their handmade creations.
We were delighted to welcome ‘Those History People’, who shared their expert knowledge and enthusiasm for Victorian history, helping to bring the era vividly to life. It was wonderful to hear how much they enjoyed visiting King’s, praising our pupils for their curiosity, historical insight, and thoughtful discussion.
Days like these are one of the many reasons why learning at King’s is so very special — we are passionate about inspiring curiosity, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the world through hands-on experiences and joyful discovery.
