On Monday morning a rather bleary eyed bunch arrived at school at 6.45 a.m. to travel to Manchester for the National Team Maths Challenge Finals. A speedy taxi, an ‘on time’ train and a rather wet walk meant we arrived in good time. Tianchen G, Louie C, Imogen R and Charles T showed great ablility and tenacity in tackling 5 challenging rounds against some extremely strong opposition, who were for the majority older than our intrepid 4. Due to a collaboration between the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust and their Chinese counterparts 8 teams from China had flown across specifically to take place in finals day! The King’s team achieved a very creditable 27 place out of 60 finalists a truly outstanding achievement. A big well done to them and a thank you to Mrs McNiff who accompanied us our little adventure.
