On Saturday 29 November, Mr Randle and Mr Reid (our Organ teacher) drove to Nottingham to dismantle a small two-manual pipe organ and load it into a van to bring back to King’s. Assisted by Mrs Dunlop and her husband it was then unloaded into the Music Department and partly reassembled. In the new year an organ builder will visit to begin the process of regulating the pipes and keyboards, and balancing the wind supply before tuning the instrument.
At King’s we currently have eleven pupils learning the organ and the addition of this instrument will provide further opportunities and time for individual practice as well as being another useful teaching instrument, alongside the existing two manual Klop pipe organ and the digital organ. It will also provide opportunities for pupils to learn about organ design and construction.
