On the first Sunday of the Easter holidays, forty intrepid students and five staff set off on the 2024 KCSC Ski Trip. For the first time, we were visiting Sauze d’Oulx, near Sestriere, in the Vialattea ski region of the Italian Alps. Our flight took us into Turin airport, whose snow-capped Alpine vista gave us hope for a snow-filled week. All of our hopes were fulfilled – although there wasn’t a great deal of snow in the village, the conditions up the mountain were superb and the slopes were topped up almost every day with fresh powder. With such superb conditions, it’s no surprise that the children all made excellent progress. Our beginner group deserve a special mention for how quickly they picked up the basics; within a couple of days, they could access almost the whole resort.
The trip was also a great success away from the pistes too. Our hotel was superb, with excellent food and very comfortable rooms. Our evening activities included swimming, laser quest and a ride on the back of a ‘piste basher’ to a mountain-top restaurant for a pizza!
The children were a credit to the school, with numerous staff from the various facilities we used and other hotel guests commenting on their excellent behaviour and manners.
We are already in the process of booking the 2025 Ski Trip, which is sure to be very popular – watch this space!
