The annual in-person meeting of Prep School History teachers from District 9, a region broadly equating to East Anglia and parts of London, was hosted by King’s College School on 23rd May. Presentations and discussions included the use of AI in history teaching, diversity and equality, the teaching of histories with emotive and controversial aspects to them. Debate was engaging, sometimes forceful, and without question, of huge benefit to how we approach the teaching of this subject in schools. The morning session was followed in the afternoon by a wonderful private tour of King’s College Chapel, led by Robert Henderson, a former Head of History at the school. In the coming academic year, King’s will host the national history conference for the Independent Association of Prep Schools [IAPS].
