Last week, children in Year 3 and Reception enjoyed a heart‑warming and memorable Golden Ticket Afternoon, an event designed to celebrate the wider networks of support that surround our pupils.
Formerly known as Grandparents’ Afternoon, the occasion has evolved to become more inclusive for all families. While grandparents were, of course, warmly welcomed and well represented, the reimagined event also embraced aunts, uncles, godparents, family friends, and even older siblings. By widening the invitation, the school ensured that almost every child had the opportunity to share this special time with someone significant in their lives.
During the afternoon, guests were invited into classrooms where pupils proudly shared their exercise books and recent learning. Together, they worked on a creative art and craft activity, giving visitors a glimpse into the children’s day‑to‑day school experiences.
The celebration concluded with a delightful concert performed by the children, followed by a warmly received afternoon tea in the newly refurbished Dining Hall, offering a relaxed opportunity for conversation with the Year 8 prefects, staff and other guests.
Golden Ticket Afternoon continues to be a much‑valued tradition – one that honours the importance of community of extended family and friends. It was a joyful event, filled with many special moments, shared achievements, and a strong sense of togetherness.
