Last Thursday Year 7 and our Year 8 Art Scholars enjoyed a morning of discovery and creativity visiting Kettle’s Yard house and gallery in Cambridge. Lubaina Himid with Magda Stawarska’s exhibition ‘Another Chance Encounter’ gave our pupils an opportunity to explore and consider words unspoken and the ‘spaces in between’. We were led through guided drawing activities in the enchanting Kettle’s Yard house, some pupil’s commenting that they wanted to stay there forever and also enjoyed a creative session led by artist Rose Feather in the Clore Learning Studio.
Work back at school will focus on pupil’s finding their voice and celebrating their own and other’s uniqueness.
Kettle’s Yard offers many family days and workshops for young people at weekends and during half terms and school holidays, it’s well worth keeping an eye on the website for your budding young artists!
