King's College School

Coeducational Independent Prep school in Cambridge

Academic Expectations

The School prepares the children for Common Entrance or scholarships exams to senior independent schools. Included in the curriculum are: English, Mathematics, Science, French, Latin, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Music, Drama, Art, Design & Technology, Information & Communication Technology, PE and Games. A PSHE programme (Personal, Social & Health Education) is co-ordinated through the subjects in the curriculum, assemblies and form periods. Greek is offered to potential scholars in Year 7.

The curriculum is reviewed constantly in the light of developments in the National Curriculum, Common Entrance syllabuses and scholarship requirements. The Deputy Head Academic meets regularly with Heads of Departments to monitor academic standards in the school. King's has a long tradition of recruiting highly qualified staff and most of the teachers are full-time.

The education we offer at King's is not narrowly classroom based. We are able to take advantage of all that Cambridge has to offer for visits to exhibitions, museums and concerts, and also to invite visiting speakers. The curriculum is further enhanced by a very popular annual History trip and regular Geography and Science field trips.
