Our Year 1 and 2 children began their Christmas celebrations with their exquisite Crib Service of poetry and music.
The Year 1 pupils confidently performed their poem, ‘I count the days to Christmas’ by Sophie Piper whilst our Year 2 children continued the Christmas story with their heartfelt recitation of ‘Christmas Carol’ by Sara Teasdale.
The children’s families were invited to join in the uplifting carol-singing of ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ and ‘Away in a Manger’.
The service concluded with the lights dimmed and the children processing in with individual, flameless candles. This ‘bringing of light’ was made even more poignant with the singing of ‘Peace on Earth’ in two-part harmony.
Fr Andrew concluded the service by blessing the crib and speaking about the importance of the special moments that we had shared together whilst celebrating the meaning of Christmas.
There was such dignity in the way that our very young children performed and something truly magical in their simple and precious retelling of the Christmas story.
