To celebrate the end of our ‘Amazing Africa’ topic, Year 1 took part in a ‘Safari Day’. We began the day by going on a virtual safari, learning that Safari is the Swahili word for ‘journey’, as well as many interesting facts about some of our favourite African animals. We also spotted some unusual animals and birds that we had not come across before! Later, our PE lesson got us moving like safari animals. Following a delicious lunch, we went on a safari hunt outside, looking for twenty different African animals, noting their location using positional and directional language.
