12 of our Year 8 pupils were invited to take part in a “Power House Games” event this week at the Cambridge University Sports Centre. This was a fully inclusive event run by “Power2Inspire, Inclusion through Sport”, an organisation that champions embedding inclusive sport education and community landscapes.
The event was run by the University Cricket Club and was hosted by John Willis, the founder and CEO of the Power2Inspire programme. John was born without fully formed arms and legs and set up the Power House programme to inspire and share his story and raise the profile of the importance of Inclusion through Sport.
Various other schools attended the event and some of the games that they played included sitting boccia, sitting netball and goal ball. The pupils were immersed in each activity for 12 minutes and were able to experience the sport through the lens of inclusion.
It was a great session and our Year 8 pupils enjoyed meeting and collaborating with children from other schools, all with different levels of ability and experience.
A big thanks goes out to John Willis and the Powerhouse team for inviting us along to such an informative and enjoyable morning.
