King John Orchestra

The King John Orchestra (KJO) was set up over 10 years ago by and for parents and friends of local schools and is flourishing under its conductor, Chris Jessop. We play for the fun of regular playing, to improve alongside each other and to perform to the best of our ability. The atmosphere is informal and friendly. KJO rehearses fortnightly on a Monday evening during term time (7.50–9.30pm) at St John’s College School in the Autumn and Spring terms, and at King’s in the Summer term. We put on a concert about once a year, usually in the late autumn.

KJO is always on the hunt for new players, especially in the string and brass sections. If you play the trumpet, double bass or, indeed, another stringed instrument and haven’t picked it up for sometime, or found a suitable orchestra, this might be the group for you!
