Every child in Year 5 will receive a personal invitation to Penguin Club for one term during the academic year. In this club we play parachute games, eat chocolate biscuits and have a lot of fun in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. However, underlying all the activities we seek to address some of the issues our children deal with on a daily basis, for example anger management, friendship groups and self esteem. Most of us have played games all of our lives and the games we play in Penguin Club are a way of learning moral values, social skills and having fun. The relaxed atmosphere provides a good setting to discuss some big issues and is a place where children can feel safe to be listened to and find help in exploring strategies that others have found useful.
