Sounds of the caribbean are on their Way. . .
The Steel Pans are here!!
This is to say a huge ‘Thank you’ for the purchase of a super set of Steel Pans. They have arrived and are currently being tested by some of the staff, as our first Staff Steel Band. This happens on alternate Fridays, after school.
As you will see from the photograph, the pans arrived in red and green. Shortly, they will be being transformed (with the help of Alan Mitton and his team) into King’s College pans, by adding a purple base coat and finishing them off with white stencilled fleur de lis on each pan.
One of the most exciting things about these wonderful instruments is the speed at which children (and adults!) can pick up the technique and create a satisfying and smile inducing sound! I look forward to hearing children (and parents) enjoying creating musical sounds of the Caribbean very soon!
With very many thanks again for your investment ...watch this space for the first performance!
