Junior

The Junior Department consists of three classes each in Year 3 and Year 4. In Year 3 the pupils are taught a full range of subjects by their form teachers. They also receive specialist teaching for Drama, ICT, French, Games and Music. The form base provides the continued security which young children need, whilst the experience of greater movement around school and an introduction to specialist teaching prepares them well for Year 4.

In Year 4 the children's experience of specialist teaching increases with the addition of Geography, Art, DT and Science. Their form base teaching remains an important aspect of their school day, where there is a commitment to developing high standards, positive attitudes to hard work and the development of pride in achievement.

The smooth transition from King's Pre-Prep (or from another school) into Year 3 is essential. The staff work hard to ensure continuity and progression throughout the department. Communication forges a strong partnership between parents and staff ensuring that the interests of the child are paramount.
