HEAD OF DEPARTMENT

The Head of History Department at King's since Jan. 1976 has been Mr. RJ Henderson. He was educated at King Edward VI Grammar School, Lichfield and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge where he took a 2.1 class degree in History in 1972. The following year he completed a Postgraduate Certificate of Education at Leeds University, where he was placed in Class One. He then taught at Ashville College, Harrogate from Sept. 1973 until the end of 1975.

Mr Henderson also undertook a one year teacher exchange to The King's School, Parramatta in Sydney, Australia in 1991. Mr Henderson was the Boarding House Housemaster from 1976 until 1981. He is the author of 'A History of King's College Choir School, Cambridge' (published in 1981) - this book has now sold out of its initial print run of 1,500 copies. Mr Henderson is married and has two children, Emily (b. 1986) and James (b. 1989).

From Sept. 2011 he works a restricted timetable, teaching all Year 7 and Year 8 sets, with one year 6 set.  Miss Cecilia Greenlaw and Miss Edwina Rushworth teach the Year 5 and Year 6 classes.
