Art and Design
 |
Art is taught as a subject in its own right or as part of a cross-curricular topic. Artistic activities help the children to develop their co-ordination and manipulative skills they need when learning to write. The art work undertaken in the pre-prep nurtures the pupils' understanding and enjoyment of art.
Children take part in activities such as painting, drawing using a range of media, printing, modelling, photography and craftwork using textiles. During lessons the pupils are introduced to the work of artists, craftspeople and designers.
Throughout their time in pre-prep the children are encouraged to experiment, investigate and develop their own ideas as an individual or as part of a small group.
