Music is important to everyone at King's. Singing and playing instruments in class as well as in weekly class lessons with a specialist teacher are fun and always varied. In Year 2 all children learn to play the recorder and are taught by a specialist. The Music department has a vast number of percussion instruments from all over the world which all children enjoy.
Once settled into the Reception class there is the option of learning the cello or violin in small groups. Some opt for individual lessons from the outset and piano and singing are popular too. By Year 2, the range of instruments expands and some pre-prep children are enjoying lessons on brass or wind instruments. Parents who wish their children to play an instrument should discuss this with the Director of Music.
