We all know why it is important to study Mathematics, so what is different about learning Mathematics at King’s College School?
Our schemes of work are based on the National Curriculum but they have been modified to cater for Scholarship and the Common Entrance Examinations. The work for each year group is divided into modules and these are assessed by end of module tests. The progress of each pupil is carefully monitored.
We aim to develop a positive attitude to mathematics through confidence, enjoyment. Pupils should have a feel for number and the level of computational skills, concepts and knowledge relevant to their age. We encourage pupils to think and communicate mathematically and have an appreciation of pattern, relationships and beauty in mathematics. We aim to help all pupils to achieve their mathematical potential and be able to produce imaginative and creative work arising from mathematical ideas.
